Finding stock images that are free and worth using can be really difficult and time-consuming.

I have probably spent at least a hundred hours searching stock photos that are actually free and don’t have any watermarks on them.

If you’re still using Google to find free stock images, I’ve news for you: there are sites that act as search engines for free stock photos. These sites only offer stock photos that are completely free. You don’t have to worry about credit for any picture you download from any of these sites.

Here’s a list of the best free stock photos websites:

A Note About Licensing

All the sites below offer high-resolution free stock photos that you can use for both personal as well as commercial projects.

Most of them license their images under Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. It allows you to do whatever you want with the images without asking for permission.

But it is always a good idea to check the license yourself before downloading and using any images from these sites.

Pixabay

Pixabay is my favorite free stock photo site. It has one of the largest collections. It also offers more than just stock photos. You can also get illustrations, vectors, and videos on this site. And all these are completely free.

What I love about SplitShire is that its images are much different than any other website. The quality of the images you find on the website is much better than most other sites. To be fair, most other sites on this list allow anyone and everyone to upload pictures.

This site is the best place to look for weird photos. The guy who takes the pictures seems like a really fun guy. He’s always taking crazy, funny-looking pictures.

Negative Space

Negative space is one of the oldest free stock photo sites. They have been around a really long time and have a huge collection of free pictures that are released under the CC0 license. You can use these pictures however you want, without the need for attribution. You can also modify them however you want and even sell those modifications to your clients.

There’s not enough you can say about this site. It’s one of a kind. It offers copyright-free pictures from the old times. You’ll only find old vintage photos on this site that are free of any known copyright restrictions. The photos are pretty amazing. I spent almost an hour just looking at the beautiful pictures on this site.
